In your dreams you see many a firework,
But only until you open your eye,
You remember you have to get to work,
You can hear yourself sigh ..

You read about the man leading the onslaught,
You probably think maybe he should die ..
You shake you head to throw away the thought,
And you can hear yourself sigh ..

Why does everyone in the world cry ?
Why do loved ones have to die ?
Why do friends have to say goodbye ?
Why do you think so many people sigh ?

When you run out of money,
And ask no one because you're shy,
You can't even seem to get angry,
You can hear yourself sigh ..

When you speak to the one you love,
And you feel their voice is tainted with black dye,
You think it's the iron hand behind a velvet glove,
You can hear yourself sigh ..

Why cry when there's no clouds in the bright blue sky ?
Why do people leave others to dry ?
Why do so many of us ask ourselves why ?
Don't you think everyone has a reason to sigh ?
